You will receive active mentoring and sponsorship throughout the programme with key programme performance and evaluation checkpoints to ensure support and progress.Final Placement: Your performance and potential will be reviewed regularly, and post-programme placements will be aligned with your aspirations and strengths.About Nuclear Power and CLP's Nuclear PortfolioNuclear power, being one of the most effective and reliable zero-carbon energy options, is vital to support Hong Kong's decarbonization and meet CLP Group's “Climate Vision 2050”. The Nuclear Unit of CLP China is responsible of managing CLP's existing nuclear power portfolio and key stakeholders, and exploring new opportunities for further regional cooperation to extend HK's access to nuclear power.Currently CLP owns 25% equity interest of the Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station (Daya Bay) which is the first large scale commercial nuclear power station in the Chinese Mainland. Daya Bay currently supplies 80% of its annual output to meet about 25% of the power demand in HK, contributing to CLP's excellent power services with high supply reliability, outstanding environmental performance and affordable tariffs. The power station comprises two 1,000 MW class pressurized water reactor generating units.CLP also owns a 17% equity interest of the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong. Yangjiang has six 1,086 MW nuclear power generating units in operation.Key Responsibilities:Commercial development of strategic projects to contribute to CLP's decarbonization targets
  • Collaborate with Nuclear Team members and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, to develop, evaluate and propose business / revenue models and options for strategic projects.
  • Based on the above, develop and propose key contractual arrangements including key joint venture and power purchase terms.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to facilitate the above evaluations and provide financial analyses to assist management's discussion and decision makings.
Management of key commercial and shareholder matters of CLP's nuclear investments
  • Timely compile management reports, regular business reviews reports and other ad hoc analysis.
  • Assist management to ensure proper and effective governances including board meetings, shareholders activities etc.
  • Manage key business and shareholders matters to safeguard CLP's interests.
Support key stakeholder engagement activities to promote sustainable use of nuclear energy for HK's net-zero electricity supply targets
  • Develop and deliver strategic messaging to promote nuclear energy communication.
  • Foster more public acceptance and support for HK to increase the use of nuclear energy through public education, stakeholder engagement and advocacy.
Requirements:
  • A recognized university degree in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or other relevant disciplines with minimum 6 years of working experience. Master's degree in the areas above is an advantage.
  • Excellent business acumen with proven ability to conceptualize, design and carry out strategic analysis and effectively communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical & critical thinking skills and numerical reasoning ability to develop expert advice, recommendation and resolution on accounting/finance and commercial matters.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good understanding of the power industry, understanding of Hong Kong regulation system on the industry is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver quality result under tight schedule.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
  • Professional qualifications preferable such as Chartered Accountant (FCCA, HKICPA, CPA), Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA), Chartered Engineer (CEng).
  • Business travel is required.
