(Post Ref.: 25/207)The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is responsible for the provision of desirable services for students of the University and enhancing their learning experience. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team dedicated to fostering whole-person development and a vibrant campus life for students.Responsibilities
- Provide psychological counselling for students, including those with special educational needs (SEN), individually or in groups
- Design and conduct activities (e.g. workshops and seminars) for students to facilitate their mental health and personal development
- Handle crises related to students' psychological problems
- Accommodate students of various cultures and backgrounds (including the in-bound exchange students) to campus life, and conduct psychological preparation programmes for them
- Offer professional guidance, support and training to the parents and staff members in helping students
- Initiate and coordinate University-wide programmes for the promotion of students' psychological and spiritual wellness
- Provide support for the operation of the counselling team including supervising clerical staff
- Utilise accurate and appropriate assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual counselling plan
- Use available technological resources to enhance the University's counselling service
- Act as the secretary of the University committee(s) as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s)
- Work outside normal office hours, including weekends, as required
- A recognised degree or above in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or relevant disciplines
- At least six years of relevant working experience, preferably in the tertiary education sector or sizable organisations
- A sound knowledge and experience in managing students' mental distress and facilitating their personal development
- A caring, empathic and optimistic disposition
- An excellent mastery of interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- A strong sense of self-motivation, responsibility and teamwork relation
- Able to work under tight timelines with a positive attitude
- A good command of written and verbal English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
